Sid Hartman's Comments in the Trib

This is exactly the reason why sometimes it can be a very frustrating feeling to be a Minnesota sports fan. Admitted homers like Sid Hartman who in real life is kind of a putz, makes comments like he did in the above article from the Star Tribune this morning in Minneapolis. Seriously, it's a great thing that the Vikes are being aggressive, I love to see a MN pro sports team spending serious money on free agents. I can only hope that someday the Pohalds won't own the Twins anymore, and they will spend money too like this. But this team is far, very far from being perfect or done with signing guys. At least I hope they aren't done signing guys. They were 30 million dollars under the NFL cap as it was. I am not sure after these few signings where they stand, but this team still needs a few serious holes filled in. Hartman likes to believe that every MN pro sports team is just on the brink of winning the Super Bowl or World Series. But it's not fair or right to give these teams a free pass just because Minnesota is a smaller market. The fact remains that the NFL is HUGE right now. In every city. Games sell out, merchandise is crazy, the NFL.com site has taken off, and there are just more NFL fans in most major cities, including Minneapolis. So, yes Sid, I am happy the Vikes and Ziggy have made some moves to help this team in 2008-09, but they still are in great need for more help. One big problem would be, QB.
